Tax Fairness Oregon is a network of volunteers who advocate a rational and equitable tax code. Our core members read every tax-related bill introduced in the state legislature, weigh our positions, and testify when bills are heard. We lobby legislators and develop priorities for their annual session, often partnering with allies. We write op-eds and disseminate “e-blasts.”
Our passion is a tax system that is equitable—and that narrows the wealth gap. Often we provide the sole opposing record for bad ideas badly funded. We also target good ideas that would inefficiently use the tax code. For example, in 2023 we initiated the repeal of a law that funded college scholarships by selling tax credits. A win-win: more aid for low-income students, fewer tax subsidies for the wealthy.
Our members have been teachers, entrepreneurs, corporate executives, journalists, government employees. We welcome your perspective and initiative.
