Recently, Tax Fairness Oregon members Larry Scruggs, Pat Story, Bill Parish, Elsa Porter and Jody Wiser attended a meeting with Senator Merkley in his Portland office. We gave him the financial speculation tax petition, which now has 320 signatures and almost that many insightful comments. If you haven’t signed on to our petition, please consider doing so. We also encouraged Senator Merkley to work on Wall Street reform in general, loopholes in our federal estate tax law and to vote “No” on Obama’s tax deal with the Republicans–a request which he honored, as did Senator Wyden.
